Stockmar crayons are made of beeswax. The combination of beeswax with safe color-fast pigments allows your child to create effects that just aren't possible with regular crayons. For example, Stockmar crayons can be layered due to the natural transparency of the beeswax. The transparency of the colors allows you to create a wide range of intermediary tones. The first color always shimmers through the upper layers creating beautiful effects. Stockmar crayons do not smear or run and can be used on most surfaces including parchment, cellophane, wood, fabric, metal and glass. The selection of colors is based on the natural gradations found in Goethe's twelve-part color wheel. The Waldorf mix consists of the following colors: carmine red, vermilion, orange, gold yellow, lemon yellow, green, ultramarine, red violet. This set of 8 block crayons comes in a tin case. Stockmar Beeswax Stick Crayons are made in Germany. Stockmar crayons are safe and can even be eaten (though we don't recommend this) as they not only meet European toy safety regulations, they also meet food safety standards.
